Accept that it can be uncomfortable to talk about money - and do it anyway
Yes, it can be nerve wracking to talk about money And in mission driven organizations, it can be even harder when you feel you’re not in it for the money, but for the greater good. Times are tough right now for many schools and nonprofits and you don’t want to be seen as a greedy guts.
However, on the flip side, if you do not perceive you are fairly compensated, resentment can fester. And then you think - “if this school really valued me, I’d be getting more than the cost of living raise.” That is not the road to job satisfaction.
